Common Foot Problems

Bunions - unsightly bumps at the base of the first or fifth toe can become painful with shoes or activity.

Hammertoes - contracted toes that can eventually develop painful corns.

Ingrown nails - occur when the corner of the nail grow into the skin, usually on the big toe. A simple office procedure can eliminate the problem and prevent recurrence.

Heel Pain - typically caused by the foot pronating or "flattening out". This stretches the band of tissue supporting the arch and may lead to a heel spur.

The Diabetic Foot - Diabetes may result in the damage to nerves and blood vessels in the foot. Patients with diabetes should have their feet checked regularly and care for them properly at home.

Neuroma - a thickened nerve in the forefoot caused by pinching and irritation from the adjacent bones. Pain may be aggravated with high heel shoes.
